When do you use the sign PAY?

PAY settles restaurant checks, monthly bills, and whose-turn-is-it debates. The sign points toward whoever receives the money, so it bends naturally into pay me, pay him, and pay the bill.

It appears in Lesson 115 of Book 4 with the money vocabulary.
